Photobucket Art, Magick, Ancient History, Genetics, Consciousness, Sex, Imagination. I spent almost 20 years in Kenneth Grant's Typhonian O.T.O., which, it's fair to say, has heavily coloured my paradigms. During that time I did all of the design and typesetting for Starfire Publishing and the Typhonian O.T.O, logo design and illustration, and published the last 9 of Kenneth Grant's books, and also "Liber Lilith" by Donald Tyson, as well as several issues of Starfire itself. Currently, I'm a member of the Horus/Maat Lodge and the Esoteric Order of Dagon, and creating and illustrating "The Nightside Tarot"... Another big influence, from my teen rebel years, was the Situationiste Internationale: not so dissimilar to the T.O.T.O., really. Keep calm Photobucket

I tend to go for original and distinctive sounds and voices, so that encompasses everyone from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds to Lee Hazlewood (RIP), Johnny Cash to Gregory Isaacs, Iggy Pop/Stooges to Antony and the Johnsons, This Mortal Coil to Shirley Bassey, Tim Buckley to Fats Waller, Sex Pistols to Dean Martin, Elvis to The Velvet Underground, Swans to Sigur Ros, Hank Williams to Puccini, Misty in Roots to Howlin' Wolf. Crackin' tunes, all. "Yo, big up massive" or whatever it is you kids say these days.

FIGHT CLUB! Anything weird and wonderful, cheesy, kinky, or scary enough to make me gasp in awe. David Lynch figures pretty large in there, as does Jodorowsky. And cartoons, especially the Fred Quimby-produced Tom and Jerry's, and RoadRunner. Nothing beats Laurel & Hardy though; that cucumber frame scene still makes me wet my pants. And if anyone's wondering what particular childhood trauma produces art like mine, it was The Singing, Ringing Tree, serialised on British TV in the early 60's; that one film seriously warped an entire generation of pre-schoolers. Whoever was responsible for putting that on at children's teatime should be given a medal (once they're let out of the enchanted wood, that is.) And surely I'm not the only person that thinks Ridley Scott should never have fiddled around with BladeRunner? The original theatrical release with the voiceover was the best... I also love B-movies and horror, especially the old Universal movies with Karloff or Lugosi, and the old 50’s mutated monster movies, like Tarantula and Them! Anything by, or with, Orson Welles or Klaus Kinski. The Third Man is very close to being my all time favourite film. Films I could watch over and over: Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy 1 & 2, King Kong (old and new), LOTR, Donnie Darko, Malpertuis, Leon, The Most Dangerous Game, Apocalypse Now, A Fistful of Dollars. For A Few Dollars More, The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly, Snatch, The Usual Suspects, Fantasia, It’s A Wonderful Life, Mystery Train, The Grudge (original), The Ring (original), The Planet of the Apes (original), Dr Strangelove, Evil Dead, O Brother Where Art Thou?, Repo Man, Re-Animator, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Akira, Diva, Delicatessen, City of Lost Children, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Man Who Fell to Earth, Brazil, Hard-Boiled, Nosferatu, Freaks, Sons of the Desert, The Wizard of Oz, The Night of the Hunter, The Bad Seed, The Incredible Shrinking Man, Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!, If..., Once Upon a Time in the West, El Topo, Enter the Dragon, The Wicker Man (original), The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Eraserhead, The Blues Brothers, Blade Runner (original), The Company of Wolves, Quest for Fire, Wild at Heart, Inland Empire, Mulholland Drive, Freaks, The Straight Story, Citizen Kane, La Bell et la Bete, Touch of Evil, Dog Day Afternoon, Spartacus, North by Northwest, Toy Story 1 & 2, The Maltese Falcon, Rashomon, Whisky Galore!, Lawrence of Arabia, His Girl Friday, Alien, The Shining, E.T.

rots the mind. Apart from Futurama, which rots it in a really groovy way. Oh, and Twin Peaks, which was what TV was invented for...
  • Books

Can't stop reading, and can't walk out of a bookshop empty-handed. Urrrfh... must... buy.... boook...aaarrrgh. Have been known to spend £600 on a book, much to my first wife's disgust.... hang on, just realised something... FIRST wife/£600/disgust... hmmm, I wonder if that was it? Oh well... at least the book was a good investment, heh heh. (Note to self: hide latest expensive purchase from second wife...) Favourite authors include (in no particular order): Aleister Crowley, Kenneth Grant, H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Chuck Pahlaniuk, Louis de Bernieres, Gerald Massey, Clark Ashton Smith, Brian Lumley, Lord Dunsany, Karl Edward Wagner, Umberto Eco, Herodotus, Lao Tzu, Wei Wu Wei, Elise Sutton, Sir Richard Burton (explorer), Alvin Boyd Kuhn, Jallaladin Rumi, Godfrey Higgins, Rev. None; have you all forgotten Punk? Too bloody young, I suppose (sigh)... You're supposed to be your own hero, not idolise anyone else. Worshipping the life or work of someone else merely shows up what a loser you are...
