Sawyer was born in Alabama in 1969 as James Ford. At a young age, James' parents were conned by a man under the alias of "Sawyer"; as a result, his father killed both his mother and himself. At the time of his parents' death, James and his family were living in Knoxville, TN according to the letter Sawyer carries. James claims to have dropped out of high school, but has a "high school transcript." James vows to avenge his parents' deaths by searching for the original Sawyer, but finds himself in financial difficulty; he adopts the profession and alias of the man responsible for his parents' death, and uses his looks and charm to seduce women and divide families. His favorite con would be to wake up next to his victim and pretend to be late for an important meeting; as he rushes to get ready, his briefcase will spill open, revealing large bundles of fake cash that the woman "wasn't supposed to see," and uses her interest as a means of getting her or her rich spouse to invest in a large, but fake, business deal. On one occasion, he carries out this con up until he sees that the targeted couple has a child, and bails on the deal in order to spare the child the same torment that he went through.
On another occasion, Sawyer carries out the same con on a divorced woman named Cassidy; however, she sees through his con the moment the briefcase falls open, mentioning that she didn't get a large settlement from the divorce. Instead, she asks him to teach her his profession. After learning a few basic tricks, Sawyer is soon asked by Cassidy to pull off a "long con," revealing that she actually received $600,000 from her ex-husband. While visiting the diner of Kate's mother, Sawyer is forced to resume his con on Cassidy, even when he considers stopping. Sawyer returns to Cassidy and tells her to run, giving her a bag full of money. He reveals that he knew about her settlement and that a car is waiting outside; he will be killed if he doesn't bring the money to the car. As Cassidy takes off with the bag of fake money, Sawyer enters the house with the real money and deposits it for his partner to collect.
Cassidy presses charges against Sawyer for conning her, and he is sent to prison. Cassidy visits him and informs him that she has since given birth to a girl named Clementine. While in prison, Sawyer befriends a man named Munson, who was sentenced for a white-collar crime. He cons him into revealing where Munson hid the money that he stole; as a result, Sawyer's sentence is cut short, and the money he receives is deposited in an anonymous bank account for Clementine by his request. Later, as Sawyer is seducing another woman, his partner informs him of the whereabouts of the original Sawyer who conned his parents. Sawyer travels to Australia to confront the man, and shoots him. Before he dies, Sawyer realizes that his partner had conned him into killing someone who owed money to an important person. Sawyer also encounters and drinks with Christian Shephard at a bar. While still in Australia, Sawyer is arrested, at the same station visited by Boone, for assaulting Warren Truss during a bar fight. As a result, Sawyer is deported from Australia and banned from returning; he leaves on board Oceanic Flight 815, his seat number being 15D
Kate smiled as she looked into his blue eyes that now mirrored thier daughters "you think so?" she asked him questioningly,as she continued staring at tiny infant Juliet who instantly cooed at the sound of her parents voice,she did notice another trait she had inherited from herself,the tiny freckles speckling her nose highly apparent,causing Kate to smile even more
Kate smiled as she leaned over to look at their baby,she truly was a Miracle ,no other child concieved on the island had ever survived nor had its mother for that matter but here she was screaming healthily at the top of her lungs,this alone was enough to make Kate cry,she looked up at Sawyer with a grin as she said "she looks like you"
*Clementine Joyce Phillips was 16, almost 17, and her world felt like it was crashing and burning again. The only thing that she was definately glad about was the fact that no one had found out that she rarely ate anything, if anything at all...Or so she thought. But that wasn't the big issue at that momment. She was bleeding and her clothes were torn to shreds when her boyfriend at the time had finally dropped her back off at home after beating and raping her. Jin couldnt quite understand Sawyers words but he did make out some of it and he did recognize the intensity of his voice and eyes,He remembered the words "Follow me" that Sun had taught him but in actuality there was no need Kates screams could be heard from a mile away which lead them directly to where she lay,when she saw Sawyer approach she reached for his hand a few vulgarities spewing out of her mouth,she had to bite her lip to keep from pushing
Megan smiled at him and layed her head on his chest hearing his heart beat slowly. She heard a knock at the door and sat up a little. When the door opened she saw Max walk in. "Um sir, so to interupt but your father is in your office and he needs to see you. It's urgent."
Megan sat up in bed and looked over at Lex. "Go ahead. I'm just gonna take a shower and lay back down. I don't feel to well right now."
Megan smiled big and kissed him again. She was so happy right then, she was finally gonna get the baby of her dreams with the love of her life. Her life was finally coming together. She looked into his eyes as her heart started beating faster. "I love you so much. You mean everything to me." She rubbed his cheek lightly before kissing him again.
When he said he wanted the baby, Megan sighed in relief and smiled big with tears falling down her face. "You do?" She laughed lightly and jumped into his arms knocking him back onto the bed. She layed on top of him and smiled big. "I do too. I want us to be a family Lex." Megan kissed him deeply and held him close.
Megan saw the look in his eyes when he said he'd love to be a father someday. For some reason she felt a little better but not fully. She felt him take her hand as he asked the question. She looked down as a tear fell down her face. "I went to the doctor this morning before work and I got tested." She looked at him with wet eyes. "I'm pregnant."
Megan sat up in bed and pulled her legs up to her chest feeling breath leave her body. She looked at him and shrugged her shoulders. "I'm just thinking about what it would be like to...." She stopped mid sentence and looked at Lex. "Have you ever thought about being a father someday?"
Two hours later, Megan decided to lay in bed since she had showered and changed into her night clothes. She snuggled under the silk covers and thought about her life, Alex, and the future baby.
She heard footsteps enter the room and knew it had to be Alex. Megan sat up in bed and looked at him as he slipped off his shoes. She looked down a little and sighed. "Alex I'm not mad at you nor do I hate you. I could care less what those papers say. I know the Alex you are now." She smiled at him letting him know she was on his side. "I just have alot on my mind."
Megan looked down at the paper and took a deep breath. She stood up and walked over to his desk sitting the paper down. Turning to him she sighed deeply. "I'm going to the room." She walked out of the office and walked down to their room. She walked in and sat on the bed taking in a deep breath.
To be honest, she could care less what the paper's said. She knew Alex and the person he was now. Megan had a lot on her mind, especially after seeing the doctor that day. She couldn't tell Alex yet in fear that he would be pissed off. Was he really ready to become a father?
Megan listened to Alex and raised her eyebrows when he mentioned the front page. She took the paper and her eyes widened at the front page. She turned around and walked over to the couch. Sitting down with the paper in hand, she looked up at him with questioning eyes. "Can you please explain this to me?"
Megan watched as he stood up and came to her. She kissed him back and looked at him oddly. "It was good." Megan turned her head to the desk and saw a newspaper sitting there. "Oh thank god you got one. I wanted to get one but I didn't have the money."
Megan walked into the mansion one afternoon after work and entered Alex's office to see him on the phone with his father. She heard them arguing and bit her lip a little. She walked into the office when he got off the phone and sighed a little.
"Getting worse isn't it?"
She stood in front of his desk and gave him a sympathetic look.
As Megan was bending down, she felt an arm bring her back up. She turned around and looked at Alex. She smiled and felt his lips touch hers. She pulled back and smiled a little toward him. "Are you sure? I mean don't you..." She saw the look in his eyes and nodded her head. "I think I'm gonna like staying home." She laughed and got back in bed pulling him with her. She kissed him deeply when she heard the phone ring. Groaning into the kiss, Megan pulled back. "Shouldn't you get that?"
Megan turned over on her side and rested her head in her palm. She smirked at him and looked over at him. "I thought you worked at home." She got off the bed and walked over to him. "And I also thought you were your own boss." She laughed lightly and sighed. "Your right. I'm sorry." She turned around and walked over to her clothes in the box by the bed.
Megan smiled and nodded her head as he kissed her. "Mmmm very good actually." She laughed a little and pulled back to move under the water. Megan started washing herself off and then turned to him when she was finished. "I'll let you finish your shower." She smiled and kissed him softly. "Don't miss me to much." Megan hopped out of the shower and walked into his room to find something to wear. She slipped on just a button shirt of his and layed back on the bed and waited for him.
It had been three days since Alex and Megan had made love for the first time. Since then, she has stayed in his room everynight. She woke up in his arms and stayed there until he had to go into work as well as herself.
One morning, she woke up to find him not in the bed. She kept the sheet above her chest to keep anybody who happened to walk in from seeing anything to revealing. She got out of bed and walked into the big bathroom to find the shower going. Megan smiled and walked over to the shower door opening it. She stepped inside and wrapped her arms around Alex. "Mmm good morning handsome." She smiled and waited for him to turn around.
Megan saw him stand up and felt her heart begin to fall. Was he having second thoughts? That was until she felt herself being lifted into his arms and saw him start to walk down a long hallway into a bedroom. She smiled and felt herself being layed back onto a very soft bed. Megan saw him get on top of her and felt her heart start being faster by the second. She was actually gonna make love with the man that she had fallen for so many years ago.
The buttons of her shirt began to come apart and soon her shirt was on the floor of the bedroom. She looked up at him and smiled when he said wow. "Is that a good wow?" She laughed slightly and put her hand behind his neck and started to massage it. Her other hand moved down and started to unbutton his pants. Her eyes met his in a lustful gaze as well as a loving one. Her dreams were finally coming true. She just prayed nothing would happen to ruin it.
