The Carruthers Brothers Band formed in 2004, when three very musically inclined brothers from Red Rock, Ontario to put their unique talents together after playing in other local bands. Steve, the oldest started playing the guitar at age 9 and became noticably good. Not long after that, Mike, the second oldest decided to play bass, to accompany Steve on guitar. Alex, the youngest of the three waited the longest to take up an interest in music when he started banging away on a set of drums in the family home.
The trio began playing the local bar scene and quickly gained poularity as they became a huge draw for local fans. In the spring of 2006, the band started work on their debut album "Blues at Gunpoint", with the help of Nipigon's Mike Demey who owns and operates a studio at his home. The album also features backing vocal tracks performed by Bob St. Pierre, Jason Cormier and their father Steve Sr. The album was completed in June of 2006 and released in July to coincide with their breakout performance as the opening act at the Thunder Bay Blues Festival.
Since then, they have become a hot commodity around the area and have opened for the likes of David Wilcox and Steppenwolf. They continue to go strong and are working on new songs to this day. Keep watching for upcoming events featuring The Carruthers Brothers Band.
