First of all, The Ghost Kings don't exist. I don't know where you even heard of such a thing.
But rumor has it that the Ghost Kings were first born about two years ago when the original six members met while battling different addictions at Sunny Oaks Rehabilitation Clinic in Tujunga, CA. Brought together by a love for reckless behavior, filter-less cigarettes, pretentious-free rock ‘n’ roll and Jack Daniels, the group immediately began practicing and coming up with the songs that would become Stone Souls in Sunny Oaks Rec room.
Choosing to use stage names as a means to protect their families from the horrors of fame soon to come, the original gang of Bonesman, Bronco, Icey, Cavechilde, The Time Machine and Triangle Spurr let their family expand to include many others along the way including Sleepy Train, Mesculine Sword, Sassafras Dungeon, Brass Buttonz, Rickety Flanks, Precious Cargo and King Bendy Toe. The year that followed their first meeting would see them all checking out of rehab and letting their new addiction, music (and of course; cigarettes, alcohol and jack in the box) steer the Ghost Kings ship into Aermotor Studios for the Stone Souls sessions.
Drenched in hopefulness and hopelessness, Stone Souls is a blend of the different songwriters personalities, from Bonesman’s bittersweet ballads (“Babe Through the Flames”) and Icey’s melancholic medleys (“Beach House”) to Bronco’s toe tappers (“Don't Let The Cattle Eat Your Best Rose”) and Cavechilde’s raucous rockers (“Suits and Ladders”). It is a testament to their no-frills straight forward approach that takes equal cues from Jackson Browne and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Imagine My Morning Jacket but with twice the members, three times the variety and four times the therapy…or a room full of Ryan Adams’.
Each one of you is a Ghost King. Each one of you has a name. Each one of you has a skill. Each one of you is a contributor. Do not fail us!
I am not a copy cat, MyCOLE! I had to dress like that for the band, we were covering Thriller, so ya know...it was a must. I looked SO much better than you anyway.
