Well, here's what it is. Spike's in the Coast Guard. Mike is back in Denton. Nobody ever knows where Al is (though I'm sure he's bearded and playing bluegrass). Dan is in Austin. And Mr. Jackson is drummin' in Nashville. Before they scattered to the four corners, they left some, uh, "denoument" recordings. Hopefully, all the August Tapes, the Free Jazz Rosco thing, and some surprises will be made available online FOR FREE real soon. Til then, nope, the band ain't playin' but something is definitely in the works...
A few details -
Band-Aid Surgery was a rap song Spike wrote and recorded as part of an acoustic trio session titled "Free Jazz Rosco." Mike re-imagined the song in his own way, retaining the original lyrics. As always, it was about having fun.
the August Tapes refers loosely to a single afternoon of recordings done back in August with the whole band (though, schedules being what they were, never all in the same room at the same time)
oh yeah, Spike is still tryin' to play in the San Francisco area whenever he isn't out in the ocean on a big boat
here's a link to a site with a recording of "When You Comin' Home" from his first open-mic night in San Fran-

Hope everyone's well. Breaks my heart that I can't do the G-house on the 29th. I'm working my ass off out here and can't wait to get a visit from all you guys!
You boys sure do sound fine. We would surely appreciate it if you was to bring it on out to the Prairie House Jam every Sunday 6-10pm east of Denton on 380. It would be a totally digfull experience for us all.
hey guys, i was just listening to "Thursday" (love the "Deacon Blues" Steely Dan-ish intro on that song, by the way) and i was thinking that you need to make some non-What It Is tracks available on iTunes! if that's even possible. "Why Did I Get Out of Bed" needs to reach more ears! good stuff, fellas
Hey guys, you put on SUCH a good show last night at Rubber Gloves. It was fine quality music, and we are honored to have shared the stage with you guys.
Hi Spike! Just thought I'd drop you an add. I listened to the CD that I bought from you at the Coffee shop one evening a few years back. I pretty much know all the words. Pretty cool. Take Care!
you are kind, my friend... the costume was quite adorable, however, proved quite impractical for climbing hills and stairs (juneau is just one big hill with stairs)... also got a little soggy in the rain.... good grief
i've now had two dreams in which i am either talking with you about you and your musical entourage coming up to alaska, or of me actually picking y'all up from the juneau airport... you coming to alaska? there's a jazz festival in juneau, early spring, mostly seems to be people from the lower 48. just a thought. and a coupla dreams. *charms*
