This is an Anti Death Penalty site, however as Thomas has no access to the internet this page is run by his friends. This is an unoffical site for Thomas. He has no control of any kind as to what gets put onto this page.
The main aim of this page is to highlight the life and struggles of Texas’ Death Row inmates and to bring awareness not simply to Thomas’ case but to the long hard fight faced by the many men and women who are also currently sat in Texas’ “steel tombs”.
Thomas was born and raised in Fort Bend County Texas.
Thomas has been incarcerated since 2005 and has been on Death Row since the 23rd March 2007.
The people connected with this site and who know Thomas ARE prepared to take a stand and fight for something that we believe is wrong. As individual people our voices would be lost, but as a group we can make a difference.
We are not excusing what Thomas has done, as there are no excuses. But we believe that the Death Penalty is not the right answer in this case or any other case.
We simply ask that you come to this page with an open and non-judgemental mind. What you take from the information is up to you.
Thomas’ case and situation is only one of thousands not only across America but also across the world whose governments believe that this punishment is justified.
Thomas still has hope that things can change, but for many it is already too late.
Please take some time to think about the consequences of this “cruel and unusual punishment”. Whether we like it or not, as a society we must take responsibility for the actions of the politicians who use this as a “political tool”.
“It takes strength to endure abuses…it takes courage to stop them.”
Together we CAN and WILL make a difference, along with the many other thousands of people and groups, to hopefully abolish the Death Penalty for good!!!!
I would urge people who have not seen the film "Dead Man Walking" to watch this clip of the execution scene. This scene had a huge effect on me when i first saw it and it continues to do so. This clip maybe from a film...but the truth is this scene is played out FOR REAL somewhere almost every day!!
Maybe by watching this clip someone maybe shocked into thinking about the subject and maybe give some thought as to what they can do to get involved to change the reality.
Some crimes are horrific and there are no excuses for them. But death does not provide the answer; it is simply retaliation to the crime NOT a punishment.

Who I'd like to meet:
Open and like minded people who can see that this is wrong and who are not afraid to fight for something that they believe in.
KDOL radio do a shout out show for the inmates at Polunsky on a Sunday between 1 - 7pm(Texas Time). They also do a show on a Monday and Thursday between 7 - 9pm and the night before an execution they hold a "special show": http://www.barnabasroad.com/kdol_radio.m3u
I do not live in the states. We also have murders happening here but we do not then kill those murderers. We are a little more civilised than that.
Who gives anyone the right to take another life? We punish those that take another persons life because it is wrong. What makes executions right? As a person from the outside looking in, what Americans allow their governments to do is sickening. The majority of the rest of the world agrees with me as well. Except for a few countries like Iran, China, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan... and the United States of America, the rest of world sees this practice as horrifying Who is America to dictate about human rights when they are in such company?
Murder is a terrible thing. It happens all over the world. The death penalty doesn't deter it otherwise your murder rates would be low instead of so high, and those states that have abolished this barbaric practice would have higher rates as well, instead they are lower than those states that continue to legally murder its own citizens.
Judge Connolly said "[w]e recognize the temptation to make the prisoner suffer, just as the prisoner made an innocent victim suffer. But it is the hallmark of a civilized society that we punish cruelty without practicing it." The only way we can punish cruelty without practicing it is to abolish capital punishment.
Hi there....I first heard about Bart after I read his fathers book. Instead of feeling angry at Bart I felt a connection in the sense that I have known what it is like to feel like nothing. To not be able to stand who you are. I don't condone what he did in anyway as innocent people lost their lives and others were left to suffer "including Bart". What I find hard to understand right now is after I watched the whole movie Dead Man Walking and saw the atrosities that he committed how I can possibly lean towards no death penalty. I struggle with this as my beliefs are that no one can judge us for what we have done other than ourselves when we cross over. I believe that any pain and suffering we may have put someone through while here on earth, we end up reliving that persons pain when we cross over. That we have to see & feel what we did to them till we realise that what we did was wrong, and we learn and grow from that experience. I believe it is against the law of god to take another life but how can I possibly be a family member for example of the people tortured and killed in Dead Man Walking & NOT want the one's responsible to have their life taken? Im really stuck on this one. I use to have penpals on DR so if I was soo against prisoners in their I would never write in the first place. I DO believe that circumstances can lead up to why people do some of the things they do and I DO believe that people can change in prison & want to wrong their rights but not every prisoner does that. I guess I just had to write as I felt torn between 2 ways of thinking. Would love to share this with anyone else wanting to reply. Many thanks
There is a new entry called In Memory of Light which is a good read. Please take the time to read the New Yorker article linked at the end of the entry.
Hello to all. Thanks for the link, Donna. I'm ashamed to say that I'm so out of touch that I didn't know that Thomas' conviction was upheld on appeal. I feel awful because I just sent him a letter. I believe that most death penalty cases get additional appeals but this is still a blow. The last letter I got from him was before the 6/24 decision. Has anyone heard from him since then and how is he doing?

Just incase people dont pick up on this on MB6 i thought i would post it here as well. This "essay" is a summary of Thomas' case, it sort of follows on from the judgement from the CCA and i think the end part makes a pretty good argument.
Hey and to add on to my last comment.. I am very interested in getting to speak with any of Thomas other friends on here as well...Please feel free to send messages or email me at im2cute12794@aol.com. Thanks
I have been writing to Thomas for several monthes now....I have came to have a very deep respect for a man who I feel has changed his life around for the better. Who are we to decide to condemn a man and punish him? Doesnt the bible say "vengence is mine sayth the Lord"? Are we not trying to take that into our hands with the death penalty? An eye for an eye???? Well again, isnt that the Lords place? I pray Thomas be given clemancy and have his sentence changed. I f his dad can forgive him, who are we to feel any different. I have signed his petition, and hope many others will as well. I have passed his story on to many others with hopes that somehow it will help. He is so intelligent and well spoken, the world is a better place with him in it.
Does anyone use the site www.prisonpaper.com to send anything to Thomas? The site says that TDCJ is an approved vendor but i am getting conflicting views from ppl; some say i can use it some say that i cant. Hope everyone is ok? :)
did anyone watch the 20/20 episode? i couldn't watch it...i saw a clip online for like a "preview" and i wish i never saw it. The image of Kevin and Tricia are seared in my brain I wish it wasnt there :( My mom watched it and was wanting to talk to me bout it but it's still hard to deal with it. Was it more negative stuff that came out of it, or was there anything postive about it?
Thomas sent me a few photos (at my request) and I have scanned them and posted then in his profile. Nice to see him in photos outside of his trial and prison, which is why I asked for them :)
I have also posted a link to his paypal account so if anyone would like to help out with the cost of his defense, please feel free to click on the Paypal link shown under "Interests"
Thomas sent me a newspaper clipping and asked me to post it here and on Facebook (click the link above and join the group all of Thomas' friends are welcome!).
