Tammie the TASMANIAN DEVIL's Interests
General
I love my family especially my daughters.
But this is the love of my life!
MY OFFICIAL BIO
Tammie Johnson was born in Southside Chicago Sept. 5, 1971. A gifted athlete, she lettered in 5 different high school sports while participating in both skateboarding and BMX stunt riding.
Tammie spent six years in the military, four in the Navy and two in the Army. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology and currently works as the IT Manager for a research and development company. Tammie lives in Lynnwood with her husband and has two daughters.
Her boxing career began at age 34 when she weighed 180 pounds. She started learning the basics of boxing at Ring Sports United in Bellevue, Wash. She picked up additional training at Mill Creek Boxing and started her professional boxing career while training at Credit Boxing in Renton, Wash. But now she has found a home at CCMA gym in Everett, Wash. Tammie, now weighing 140, trains under Mark Hunter who has been a Boxing, Kickboxing and self-defense Instructor for over 22 years and has trained competitive fighters for 16 years.
Tammie doesn’t view boxing as an athletic pastime or a way to stay in shape. To her it is a second fulltime job and she works very hard at it. Everyday before she starts her IT job she works out at a local fitness club for 2 hours working on a combination of cardio, calisthenics, and weight training. In the evening she goes through a rigorous workout routine and spars with other boxers, kickboxers and MMA athletes.
It is a regiment that she always follows whether she has a scheduled fight or not. She trains to always be ready for a bout because an opportunity may come up with as much as four weeks and as little as a few days notice.
People have told her she was too old to get into the game and with no amateur experience she could never make it in professional boxing. That is why she has the moto “Prove them wrong” tattooed on her arm. She trains hard everyday to do exactly that.
Tammie was never able to compete as an ameteur do to the lack of available competitors in the Master's division and ended up going straight to the pro circuit. She made her pro boxing debut October 6, 2007 in Rochester, Wash., dominating Jana Simms who fell to (0-1-2) in a four round bout. All three judges scored the fight 40-36.
My hobbies:
I really love riding my motorcycle. I was finally able to trade up my 2004 Suzuki Katana GSXF to a 2007 Suzuki GSXR 600. Both were quite an upgrade to my first motorcycle, a 2006 Kawasaki Ninja 250.
I used to umpire. I haven't done any games in two seasons now that I am concentrating only on my boxing career.
Music
Anything but country.
Beastie Boys are the best. and Justin Timberlake is just so damn hot. Rock music is all I workout to. My favorite bands are Trapt and Sevendust (but you probably don't know anything about that!)
Movies
GirlFight - Got me interested in boxing.
Say Anything - Helped me cope with my teenage years.
Fast and Furious (1,2, and 3) - Got me to mod my ZX2. Don't laugh, it was sweet.
Gone in 60 Seconds - Cars, need I say more.
Torque - Gave me my new discovered love for motorcycles, WERD!
Television
I watch anything considered a reality show.
My favorite show of all time is The Contender. They need to let the females represent.
Books
Heroes
I have two heros. One is my mother, the one that gave birth to me. She is and always will be my hero. I hope I haven't let her down and have made her proud.
The other is my best friend. She is my hero because she puts everyone else before herself and she perseveres through all obstacles.
