Die Goldene Ära des britischen Electropop lebt in Südostasien fort: So bringen etwa I-Go aus Schanghai mit schmelziger Jungsstimme und roter Krawatte den tanzbaren Plastikcharme der 80er-Jahre auf den Punkt, während The Analog Girl aus Singapur Drumcomputer mit lasziver Frauenstimme und 4-Spur-Ästhetik kombiniert.

Cumbia, die afro-hispanische Tanzrhythmik aus Kolumbien, ist die Basis für digitale Neuentwicklungen in ganz Lateinamerika. Toy Selectah aus dem mexikanischen Monterrey ist seit Mitte der 90er-Jahre einer der Vorreiter dieser Bewegung. Das ZZK-Label aus Buenos Aires, hier vertreten durch die Gruppe Tremor und Labelchef Grant Dull, gilt als Entwicklungslabor der derzeit interessantesten Innovationen.

Première of the multimedia laptop opera "Fathers" by the international women's ensemble The Lappetites; a musical air lift between the Spree and the Bosporus in cooperation with the Kreuztanbul-Festival; neon-colored South-East Asian electro-pop; dance-crazy Cumbia Digital: the four evenings that make up the third edition of WORLDTRONICS each stands for a completely different approach to modern music. Experts such as Alexander Hacke of Einstürzende Neubauten fame or Henry Foundation of Goodnight Electric/Jakarta, who will be putting together the line-ups, will offer their individual views and insights – a multi-faceted taste of international electronica for the inquisitive listener.

The Lappetites – each of the four women is on her own journey through the zone between electronic song-writing, clubs, new music and multimedia – perform a hybrid opera: a video Tryptikon of father figures, narrative voices, singers, pre-programmed and live electronic music all blend in a mix of documentation and musical sensuality.

Cumbia, the Afro-Hispanic dance rhythm sensation from Colombia is a fountainhead of digital innovation throughout Latin America. Toy Selectah from the Mexican city of Monterrey has been in the vanguard of this movement since the mids-90s. The ZZK label from Buenos Aires, represented here by the group Tremor and label boss Grant Dull, is regarded as the development laboratory of some of the most interesting and innovative music around.
