Off the top of my head...
The Beatles(GEORGE!), King's X, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley and The Wailers, ANY Paul Rodgers(Queen + PR), Jimi Hendrix(any and all), Otis Redding, Rocco Deluca and The Burden, Angie Aparo, U2, Edwin McCain(LARRY CHANEY RULES!), David Ryan Harris, Beth Hart, Living Colour, Peter Gabriel, Counting Crows, Jeff Beck, Neal Schon, The Black Crowes, Chris Cornell, Soundgarden, Tool, Ben Harper, Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan, Foo Fighters, David Hood, Jimmy Johnson, Roger Hawkins and Barry Beckett, Prince, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, W.C. Handy, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, The Staple Singers, RHCP, Lenny Kravitz, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Allman Bros, Metallica, James Taylor, Tears For Fears, Nine Inch Nails, Parliament Funkadelic, Paul Carrack, Squeeze, Cream, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, Wilson Pickett, Keb Mo, Beastie Boys, N.W.A., Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Easy- E, Mos Def, BB King, Select Clapton solo material, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Harry Connick Jr, Elmore James, Johnny Cash, Lyle Lovett, Van Morrison, Roy Orbison, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Early ZZ Top, Spooner Oldham, Dan Penn, The Doors, Traveling Wilburys, Crosby Stills and Nash(and Young), Heart, Bonnie Bramlett, Bekka Bramlett, The Rolling Stones, Sam and Dave, Sam Cooke, Percy Sledge, Elton John, Etta James, Billie Holiday, Aretha, Gladys Knight and The Pips...and, much like The Dude, I hate the F-ing Eagles.
First and foremost, I am expendable. Some days, I'm a total rockstar. Other days, I'm a complete poseur. Rumor has it that I was hand-picked by the legendary Paul Rodgers(Free, BadCo, now with Queen) to be the opening act for Bad Company's Live 2002 DVD/CD Tour. Five weeks on the road with Bad Company, along with Slash and Journey guitarist, Neal Schon. Seeing as how it was the most surreal experience I could've ever fathomed, the details are still, six years later, a bit hazy. The two most relevant bands that I've ever wrapped my ears and mind around are The Beatles and King's X. I believe that Otis Redding is sitting to the left of our Lord and Bob Marley is sitting comfortably on His right. But I digress...
These days I make music, not always b/c I want to, but b/c I have to. It's who I am and it is much cheaper than therapy. I will continue to live perpetually outside-the-box because total conformity is for the birds. I hope you hear something that you enjoy and, if not, I appreciate your respectful tolerance of who it is that I must be.
Cheers.
Got a new song on my page called "Survivor" This song was written for my former 12th grade English teacher Mrs. Charlotte Rich from Hamilton High School in Hamilton Alabama. She is a Cancer Survivor of over 10 years. She is an Inspiration and a Blessing and I am proud to call her Friend. She is very dear to me and many, many others whos life she has touched and changed. Speaking on behalf of Hamilton High School former and present students, We All Love You Mrs. Rich!!! Mike McGuire of the band Shenandoah helped me out tremendously on this song. Mike engineered it for me down at his studio and also put the backing vocals on the song. Mike is an extremely talented and wonderful individual. Mike didn't hesitate one bit when I asked if he would be a part of this song. I am proud and honored to have had Mike's help and knowledgeable input on this project. Thanks Mike. Your the man!!! I hope that you all enjoy the song.
