Excellent sets by all of the bands throughout the day, lent an air of excitement to the festivities. It was like a musical family reunion with regional reggae veterans Groovemaster (Toledo), Rob Dread (Lexington, KY/Columbus), Dem Reggae Bon (Louisville, KY/Jamaica) and Demolition Crew (Dayton/Columbus) all laying down the roots sounds. Opener Andy Shaw Band (Columbus) added their sweet-voiced original reggae-rock to the mix to round out the flavor.
The crowds have continued to grow at the free city-sponsored festival for the last several years, The crowd filled the park to capacity, with estimates ranging from 3,000- 5,000 + reggae fans in attendance. SEEFARI, who has been the featured headlining performer at the festival for the last several years is clearly a crowd favorite. When internationally-known radio personality/festival DJ MC Rev Cool introduced SEEFARI, the festival grounds swelled with screaming fans and the area in front of the stage was filled with dancers jumping and waving during SEEFARI's show-stopping finale!
The 22nd Annual Dayton Reggae Festival was held on Sunday August 30 in downtown Dayton, Ohio - Despite cool weather (High of 70 degrees) and an earlier date than the usual day before Labor Day, The Festival was a huge success! According to organizers from the City of Dayton, The festival had twice as many vendors this year than last, which was already a record! A whole extra row of vendors was added to the festival site @ <font size="undefined" .."FONT-FAMILY: Verdana;
